The Purpose of Wings

Standing on the edge, I take a step further,
Eyes not on the ground but into the sky.
All the bonds and chains forming a tether,
Close your eyes and hope you'd fly.

The roof is safe, strong and fair
Hides your fears and stops your tears.
Yet, I spread my wings and step to the air.
Lessons will be learnt as the chain shears.

My mind soars and glides around the world.
The broken chains, let many skills unfold.
You never rest, from your step off the nest.
Fly higher and higher, to be the best.

With the height you gain, your wings strain.
You look further and push through the pain.
Then even as you fall around, and the world comes down.
You never regret the step, which reached for the crown.

The sky is not for everyone with gravity's pull
But all we need is a moment, as our hearts fill.
Many who leave, drop and crush.
But many many more, never feel the rush.

Even if you fall and your kins cry,
The best you could do always is, Try.
"The nest is safe, as nothing stings"
The bird smiles as he looks at his wings.
